Cameron's Dictionary

This post is dedicated to our very intelligent son, Cameron, who has made up his own language!  It seems that regular English isn't quite up to par for him, so he took it upon himself to establish a new one (I'm not quite sure what it is called, any suggestions?).  I seem to have a master translating power, so here's a little excerpt in case he ever tries to communicate with you:

Panting with tongue out- dog
Tongue click (like the tick tock of a clock)- Milk
Repeatedly clenching teeth- fruit snacks
"Hmmm"- I'm thinking
"Wa"- water
"Huh uh"- yes
"Oh"- no
"Bagey"- baby
"Doggey"- dog
"Mow"- cat
"Om"- food
"Oga"- Logan
"Minnie"- binky
"pa pa"- fireworks/bubbles/balloons
"Mick mow"- Mickey Mouse
"Mini"- Minnie Mouse
"Nana"- grandma
"ha 'n dow"- jump up and down

And here are a few common phrases that he uses:
-"Danny Monney Miney!"- Anytime that we're all together (especially when we pick him up from nursery/ when we're eating dinner/when we pick Blake up from the bus stop)
-"Miney go"- I want to do it by myself/That's mine
-"Om wa mow"- the cats need to eat and drink (usually exclaimed while he is haphazardly carrying them towards their food dish
-"wa wee"- I want to go to Seven Peaks and go down the water slides
-"miney bagey, monney bagey, danny bagey!"- my baby, mommy's baby, daddy's baby! (While pointing to my belly). He actually loves to yell our names anytime we are all doing the same thing.
-he is becoming very good (in his own language) of recounting stories to me, especially ones that include him getting hurt. Example: "Miney ha 'n dow, bon, ow" - I jumped up, and then I fell down and hit my head. Ow.

He loves to brush his own teeth, and loves playing fetch while pretending he's a puppy.

He is also taking after his dad and has become quite the tease!  We will ask him "How much do you love me?"  and without any prompting, he started holding his fingers very close together instead of spreading his arms wide.  I honestly don't know how he came up with this, but he LOVES the reaction he gets from it.
He started giving pounds when you ask for a high five, and a high five when you ask for a pound.
He will start to give you a kiss, and then run away and laugh.
His favorite game is hide and seek, and he always jumps out and says "Boo!" to scare you.

No pictures at the moment (I promised Cam that we would go to the park now) but we love our Cameron!

Our trip to Bear Lake

I have lived in Utah my entire life, and have never been to Bear Lake! Since Blake has so many childhood memories there, we decided to go on a spontaneous trip and relive some of them altogether. We stopped in Salt Lake on our way there to pick up our bikes and to ride the trains! Cameron loved watching the people and cars go by.
If you ask Cameron to smile, this is the face he makes.
We toured Temple Square, and Cam loved seeing the statue of Jesus.
We also showed him where we got married (surprisingly he wasn't that impressed, until he saw the reflection pool) :)
When we got to Bear Lake there was only one restaurant open, the rest close for the season! It happened to have a mascot bear, which Cameron instantly befriended.
And then he found a trick or treating ghost, which he also befriended.
They also had some arcade rides, and Cameron enjoyed some time as a trucker...

and a cowboy!

We went on a bike ride down to the lake, which was gorgeous!
On our way home we stopped in Logan to see where Blake grew up. Only 9 months were in this house, but Cam really liked climbing on the rocks.
We had to stop and let Cameron pick out some penny candy (which is now two-cent candy).
We ate lunch at Willow Park, and went on a bike ride around Wilson Elementary to round out the trip before heading home. It was a great vacation and we can't wait to go back and visit again!

Our Summer

Well it's been a busy summer! Here's a few pictures to show everyone some of the fun things that we did (warning: there are lots of pictures here, so feel free to just scroll through them):
We went rock climbing in Zion National Park...
and then we jumped in the river when the climbing got too hot.
I mean LOTS and LOTS of time at the park.
We rode the tram in Albuquerque...
and went to the Harry Potter premiere.
We mowed the lawn...
hiked in Arches National Park...
and last but not least... we bought a kitty! His name is Toothless, and Cam loves to torture him.
Unfortunately, he already found another family that lets him sleep inside. :( It was fun while it lasted.
Here are some of the things that Cam loves:
Anything to do with cars (especially Lightning McQueen, which he demands watching daily)
Blowing on his food
Brushing his teeth (does this 3-4 times a day when he gets his way)
Screaming (I don't love this)
Smacking his lips (but I do love this)
Shutting doors (and cupboards, and drawers, and the dishwasher, etc.)
"Big trucks" a.k.a. semi-trucks
Riding in the car (when I tell him that we're going to see the big trucks and he's holding a toy car)
Going on bike rides
Any person/animal that is his size that isn't real (stuffed animals, blow up people/toys, holiday decorations) He hugs them, and then carries them around with him wherever he goes.
Dancing/spinning around
Being tickled
Playing hide-and-seek
Playing any game with Dad when he gets home from school

We love this little boy so much and are lucky to have him in our family!

We bought a house!!!

After a long day of me being at work and Blake taking care of Cameron we got all of our stuff in the house! Please ignore our tired faces and notice the beautiful black cabinets that took us days to sand and paint.
This, unfortunately, is the only picture that we took of Cameron at the house the first weekend that we were there. You can almost see the 'half stache' scrape that he got the day we moved. Awesome.
The first week we were there Blake found this four leaf clover in our yard! First one that either of us has ever seen, we are definitely in the right place.
And this is our festive fourth of july family picture! Cam loved watching the fireworks, the summer was very wet and so we could shoot off aerials!

Mr. Bear

A few weeks ago, Cameron went through a phase where, half way through the night, he would decide he was too lonely to sleep alone. So, Blake and Cameron would 'sleep' for a few more hours in the recliner. One night when Cameron woke up lonely, we decided to give him Mr. Bear, and now Blake has been replaced! No more recliner time for Cam and Blake. Now, they are inseparable and he shares even his most beloved treasures with Mr. Bear.

Cam turns one!

Cameron loved all the attention that he got on his birthday from friends and family!
He didn't quite understand blowing out the candle, but with a little coaxing he dug right in and loved his cupcake. :)
We love this little boy, he is so happy and full of personality! Best year ever.
